Edward has one of the sweetest Tacomas that we have ever had the pleasure of working on. Through the course of about a year we have had the opportunity to have his truck in our shop several times to get all sorts of custom fabrication and work done. Recently we finished Edwards final stages of his build to get the truck to where it is today. Here is what we have done…
The fist time Edward came to us he brought his brand new 2012 Tacoma and was looking for body armor for all 4 sides. On this occasion we built custom CBI Front and rear bumpers with integrated Rigid Industries LED lighting and a Warn M8000 winch with synthetic line. We also built a set of bolt on rock sliders and a full set of skid plates for underneath. The final part of this stage of the build was to install a complete OME Suspension lift system along with installation of all the Rigid LED lights and the Warn winch. From this point the truck was already looking and functioning very well.
Edward however wanted to take it a step further to get the full expedition experience. That is where this stage of the build came to be. He approached us about making a custom bed rack that would carry a roof top tent, fuel cans, hi-lift jack, and some traction devices. He also wanted to do a dual battery system along with some simple 12volt outlets in the bed of the truck and also in the back seat area for a refrigerator. Last minute he decided to upgrade his suspension as well and put an Icon Vehicle Dynamics Stage 5 suspension system with rear bumper stops.
Now that the final stage is complete here is what we did. We built a custom CBI bed rack per Edwards requests. This rack has custom mounting up front for 2 jerry cans and comes with mounting for all of his accessories. We mounted a TJM Yulara roof top tent, TREDS traction devices on the sides, TJM recovery jack, and 3 more Rigid Industries diffused lights on the back. We put in mounting points all the way around the inside of the rack for his bed net as well.
We installed the dual battery system with a custom CBI dual battery tray and also a very trick IBS battery management system. A 12volt outlet was added behind the back seats for his fridge and also a quick connect point for the LED’s on the bed rack so that the rack can be easily removed if needed. Another 12volt outlet was also wired in the bed area for additional future LED lighting.
Finally we pulled off the OME suspension and put on all new Icon parts. This kit includes billet upper control arms, extended travel front remote reservoir coil-over shocks, rear add-a-leafs, and 2.5″ rear remote reservoir shocks! Edward opted for the Icon rear hydraulic air bump stops as well to complete the suspension setup.
